Flagpoles are usually circular and sometimes polygonal. They are installed in urban areas such as schools, bridges, military places, and open spaces including streets.
Making a flagpole
Aluminum flagpole is manufactured from seamless extruded tubes of 6063-T6 alloy, having a minimum tensile strength of 30000 psi and a yield point of 25000 psi. Heat treatment after manufacturing is tempering to reach the standard.
Galvanized steel pole, minimum wall thickness of 0.635 inch (1.6 mm), is suitable for flag size and installation. 3.16″ (4.8 mm) metal plate and steel axle wedges all welded together are required. The support plate is 3.16″ by 19mm diameter long steel all welded together.
Installing the flagpole
Installing the flagpole on the ground
- Ensure flag location is secure; make a conical base if necessary.
- Mark and dig the foundation.
- After completing the hole, place the lower part of the hinge base or ground socket in the hole.
- Make sure the base is flat; use a level surface.
- Pour cement into the hole and adjust the base.
- When setting the foundation for the flagpole, position the sheath in the designated area.
- Assemble the flagpole and attach the flag base to the hinge base using the hinge pin.
- As soon as the foundation is ready, two people are needed to raise it vertically.
- Flatten the flag tower and place the lock nuts on the base.
- Attach the flag to the rope.
- Raise the flag.
Flagpole price
The price depends on factors such as the pole thickness, the base material (aluminum, galvanized steel, epoxy…), the base density, base connection, accessories such as the type of reel and tow wire, length, etc.
Installing flagpole in the ground
Please be aware of surface drainages, power cables, gas pipes, data cables, water sources, telephone lines, trees, when installing a new flag.
In buildings, make sure that the flag next to the wall does not get wet and is wind resistant.
Make sure there is enough space between the flags to fully raise the flags.
For added security in locations prone to flag theft, always have a fence system.
